In 1953 Commander Witzel was sent to London as senior supply corps officer for the Mediterranean (and North African) Fleet. By then, he and Virgilia had a second daughter (me). They made Putney, a suburb of London, our home base for multiple vacations and expeditions all over England and the Continent.
